Rehabilitation Act - Section 504

★ Rights
• Attend 504 Plan team meeting
• Receive a copy of the 504 Plan
• If you disagree with the 504 Plan:
          - Express view at a meeting & suggest alternatives
          - Refuse to sign the plan
          - Contact your union rep if you believe the plan alters your terms and conditions of employment

★ Responsibilities
• Participate on the student’s 504 Plan Team
• Collect data and documentation about student
• Read/Know the student’s 504 Plan
• Implement designated services and strategies
• Participate in the review process

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

★ Rights
• Receive a copy of the IEP
• Request additional music-specific supports, materials, and/or training
• Determine placement on the same basis as placement for students without disabilities
★ Responsibilities
• Give the same opportunities to elect music instruction as for other students
• Read/Know the student’s IEP
          - Current levels of academic achievement and functional performance
          - Annual goals
          - Special education and related services; supplementary aids and services
          - Program modifications or supports for school personnel
• Implement designated IEP goals
• Consult with IEP Team if unsure how to apply techniques and supports in IEP
