Dr. Alicia Barksdale, Director of the Music Therapy Program at Washington Adventist University, discusses ways in which music therapy techniques enhance learning and optimize mental health and brain function for students in special education settings. Dr. Barksdale also provides musical strategies that special educators can use in the academic classroom to help students maximize their attention, memory, self-regulation, and social-emotional growth.
